To Bless Single Men

Lord God,
Single men face unique challenges. When they feel the social pressure to be dating or in pursuit of a girlfriend, relieve that pressure by granting them a spirit of contentment with their current station in life. Assure them that they are not somehow incomplete or inferior in comparison to others who are married or dating. If they struggle with insecurities, direct their attention away from themselves to you, where they truly find all that they need. Diminish the urges of temptation in their lives by creating in them the godly desire to pursue your righteousness and deepen their faith. Fulfill them in their vocations and satisfy them with work faithfully and well done. Let them know their contributions at work, in your church, and in their communities are appreciated. Bless them with hobbies and interests that provide rejuvenation and relaxation. Remind them that because of Christ, their lives have meaning and that they matter greatly to you.

To Support Women and the Use of Their Gifts

Loving Lord,
While many in the world have a tragically twisted view of your perfectly established genders, you have created men and women with unique and complimentary gifts. Your design was for male and female to work together in perfect harmony, faithfully carrying out their respective roles. To that end, I ask you to help me be more aware of the many gifted women all around me, and to seek to utilize their gifts in every way possible. Lead me to look out for them, support them, and encourage them. Keep me from treating women with anything less than the full respect and honor they deserve. Use me to speak up for them and defend them when other men won’t. Let their gifts be a tremendous blessing in the work of your church, too, as they are raised up and equipped to serve you and the body of Christ.

To Honor and Respect Women

Wonderful Creator,
In your wisdom you created men and women, uniquely designed not only physically, but in how we think and feel as well. Thank you for the joy of discovering and delighting in those differences! 

While we have different roles that compliment each other beautifully, our fallen world too easily views those differences in terms of inferiority and superiority. I confess that I am guilty falling into this trap, too. Forgive me and bless me with the sacrificial, servant heart of Jesus, so that I look to women and to serve them, rather than to be served by them. Let my attitude toward women be filled with respect and admiration for all they do. Lead me to honor them with my words and actions. Use me to protect and care for them whenever possible. Help me always to hold them in high regard.

To Honor Women

Almighty Creator,
You created man and woman and brought them together in perfect union. Each are created uniquely, and they provide characteristics and attributes which bless and complement each other. We have every reason to honor each of the sexes as good and pleasing in your sight, and beneficial for family and society.

Unfortunately, our broken world fails to celebrate and highlight the unique strengths of each sex, and instead we speak down to each other. I, too, am guilty of this. When I have belittled or disparaged women, what I have really done is disrespected you. When I view male and female as competing rather than complementing each other, what I have really done is dishonor you. In your boundless mercy, forgive me.

Let me model for others an attitude that shows great respect for women. Guide my lips to speak well of them. When I am able to help and support them, lead me to do so humbly and with a sacrificial spirit. May my words and actions toward women reflect my appreciation to you for the gifts they offer and the blessings they provide in our lives.
