DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For Those Traveling for the Holidays

Protecting Father,
Plans are in place for family and friends to gather and celebrate this month and especially next week. Direct your angels to watch and keep all travelers safe. Keep drivers on the road well-rested and attentive. Keep pilots in the air alert and focused. Ensure that precautionary steps and safety procedures in all areas of travel are diligently carried out and no corners are cut. Equip first responders and emergency care providers with all of the resources they need to act swiftly to provide help and aid whenever it is needed. Use travelers, too, to be aware and to look out for each other and be a source of help to those in need. Grant patience and discernment to all who oversee the logistics of mass transportation and bless their efforts in the busy days ahead.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Guard and Protect Others

Mighty Father,
You are the perfect protector and guardian of all. Whether you task your guardian angels with keeping us safe or get directly involved by divine intervention, you diligently watch over those who are yours. In one way or another, you always keep your promise to deliver us.

You also call me to love my neighbors by living sacrificially for them. That sacrifice will most often show itself in the form of sacrificial living, as I put my neighbor’s needs before my own. Nevertheless, if the situation ever arises, let me also be willing to put my own life on the line to protect the lives of others. It is a sad statement of our times that tragedy can strike in so many ways at the hands of violent people with wicked motives. Cause good and godly men to rise up to the occasion and guard and protect those in harm’s way when danger strikes. Thwart the evil and malicious intentions of any who plot death and destruction, and guard and protect all who are willing to sacrifice their own lives to stop them.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Guard and Guide My Heart

Gracious Lord,
Were it not for your Word, which reveals that our heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure (Jer. 17:9), I would be much more inclined to follow its lead. I am sure of this, because even though I already know this danger, I still foolishly let my heart guide me from time to time, only to learn another hard lesson about how misleading it is.

Let David’s plea in the psalm be my plea: “create in me a pure heart, O God” (Ps. 51). Let your description of David also be a description of me, that I would be “a man after [your] own heart” (Acts 13:22). A heart that has been washed and cleansed by your blood, Jesus, is one that knows to lean on you and your Word for all understanding, direction, and guidance. It is a heart that clings to your salvation above all else, and fiercely and faithfully seeks to stand guard against every outside attempt of the evil one to attack and take it over (Proverbs 4:23). By your grace, God, grant me such a heart and so keep me yours forever.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
