DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Be There for Young People

Son of God,
Growing up in the world today is not easy. So many kids come from broken homes and dysfunctional families. They face pressure to excel and succeed already at such a young age that they’re hardly allowed to just be kids. Parents often choose permission over discipline, leaving them ill-equipped to function in the real world, where wrongdoing has consequences. Technology and temptation often form an alliance that kids (let alone adults!) simply aren’t able to handle.

For all of these reasons, and many more, help me go out of my way to help young people in any way. Rather than just complaining about all the problems with young people today, I want to be a part of the solution. Let me take the time to do the simple things like acknowledge them, listen to them, and encourage them whenever possible. Give me discernment to know when it is appropriate to correct bad behavior and wrong choices when I witness them. Help adults to be mindful of when and where young people can be included in meaningful ways. Through these efforts, let young people know they are appreciated and cared for, not just by us, but even more importantly, by you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Bless Young People Through Summer Employment

Providential Father,
When the school year is over, the months away from the classroom often include opportunities for young people to pick up summer jobs. Summer employment can provide unique learning experiences. Teach young people lessons that will serve them well for the rest of their lives, such as being on time, working well with others, being reliable, and the value of hard work. Help them learn how to handle paychecks, giving thoughtful consideration to how to manage your financial blessings.

When they have to deal with difficult managers, employees, or customers, use those challenges to strengthen their relational skills and develop their emotional intelligence. When they have scheduling conflicts between work and personal plans, teach them discernment and the importance of good decision-making. As they engage and interact more and more socially, impress on them how many chances they have to let their light shine and to be a witness to others. Overall, use these summer employment opportunities to help them acquire skills that will be a blessing to them and to others for the rest of their lives.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For Our Young People

Loving Father,
Young people today face fears and pressures to which previous generations were never exposed. Sadly, living in a society that struggles to cope in healthy ways with hardship and adversity only makes matters worse. Finally, many families have also had to deal with single or divorced parents, or grandparents playing the role of primary parents to their grandchildren. Truly the odds are stacked against our young!

Send your angels to watch over them around the clock. Protect them from harm caused by others as well as the consequences of their own actions. When not present in their own families, place other caring adults into their lives who will pour into them, provide them with guidance, and love them enough to correct and discipline them. Lead young people ultimately to know your love and forgiveness, to find their worth in your words and promises, and to embrace your calling with energy and eagerness.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
