For Those Facing Life-Threatening Illness

Healing Lord,
Today I come before you on behalf of those I know battling life-threatening illnesses. It’s so easy to take our health for granted, Lord, but these individuals I bring before you are reminded daily of how precious and fleeting life can be. Have mercy on them. Grant them health of mind and spirit as they battle physical attacks against their bodies. Help them endure and flood them with support, and do the same for their loved ones. Relieve their pain or give them the strength to bear up under it. I boldly ask that you bless their treatment and medicine to be effective against their illness. Wisely direct their medical care and guide those who provide it. Finally, fill them with the peace only you can provide in knowing that no matter the outcome of their illness, you are with them – either by their side here on earth, or by bringing them to your side home in heaven. 

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

For Healthy Sex Lives in Marriage

Gracious Savior,
In our sex-crazed society, we have disregarded and despised your design for sex, and we have suffered tremendously because of it. This treasured gift is spoiled when shared between anyone other than a husband and wife, and that widespread abuse has also negatively influenced physical intimacy in otherwise healthy Christian marriages. Sex depicted in movies and media paints an unrealistic picture of expectations and consequences for sex as God intended it. Moreover, too many Christian marriages are sex-starved for sinful reasons. Bring your healing and hope to marriages that have been damaged greatly by pornography or adultery. When drive and desire for sex are mismatched between spouses, let healthy communication be regularly present, and let it be guided by a god-pleasing view of sex where selfless service overshadows selfish insistence. Let your gift of sex be the amazing blessing you intend it to be between faithful, committed, sacrificial spouses.

For Moderation in My Screen Time

Dear Lord,
Give me a spirit of self-discipline in my usage of technology and screens. There are tremendous blessings available to us through our phones and laptops, but any blessing can quickly become a burden if I allow myself to become enslaved by it. In order to determine if my screen time has reached unhealthy levels, I have to be aware of how much time I spend on my devices. If I notice others commenting on my frequent usage, let me take it to heart and make changes rather than becoming bitter. Help me sort out the good and beneficial uses from the unnecessary and negative ones. Let moderation be my mantra, so that my relationship with screens honors you and allows me to be present to serve others.
