For Those Who Care for Christ’s People

Lord of the Church,
Thank you for those who shepherd your people and provide spiritual care for the sheep of your flock. Bless their work as they carry out the great responsibility of guiding and nurturing the faith and lives of the body of Christ. Keep them faithful to your Word and grant them the discernment to correctly apply law and gospel. Refresh them in soul, spirit, and body when they feel the burden of their calling. Reward their work with joy in seeing the fruit of their labor as your Holy Spirit strengthens faith and equips believers for works of service. Continue to train and provide future workers for this important work, so that your grace flows in abundance from one generation to the next until your glorious return.

For Those Providing Care for Others

Dear God,
Those who are committed to caring for others provide a tremendous service to society. There are so many in need of care of all kinds – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Physical therapists, counselors, and pastors go to significant lengths to receive adequate training for these roles, but family members and friends often fill them in various ways, too. Thank you for the sacrifices they are willing to make to provide this valuable care to others. Give them perseverance and strength for their responsibilities when they are tired and worn out. Uplift them with words of encouragement and appreciation when they are emotionally drained. Above all, refresh them with the spiritual rest you freely offer, forgiving their sins and securing their salvation by your loving sacrifice for them and for all people.

To Bless the Work of Those Serving Families

Caring Father,
Bless the efforts of all fields of work, organizations, and individuals who exist to help and serve families. Give family counselors and therapists the specialized skills and abilities necessary to help them provide whatever unique services families may need. Thank you for establishing organizations devoted to meeting the physical needs of struggling families. Expand the influence and reach of all who champion the important role of families and advocate on their behalf. Make ministries and congregations aware of the opportunities they have to pour into families, and equip pastors to minister well to them. Lead families to be dedicated to the pursuit of letting your Word dwell richly in the home, so that you may bless them in the greatest and best ways possible.
