DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Draw Us Into Your Word

Word Made Flesh,
Your Word is life. There is no other way about it – faith does not exist and cannot survive apart from your Word. Nevertheless, in a culture constantly craving shortcuts, hacks, and pro tips, even as believers, we search for one workaround after another that can give us the benefit of the Word without actually being in the Word. Spare us this foolishness and turn our hearts and desires toward time in your Word. Not only does your Word supply your grace and forgiveness, which we need to feed and fortify our faith; it also provides healing when we’re hurting, strength for our struggles, and answers to all that we ask. Draw us into the Bible. Lead us to love and treasure it. Help us fiercely guard our time in it. Through it, enrich and bless us in ways we could not imagine, and pull us always closer to you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Enrich Prayer Lives Within Marriages

Gracious Father,
When a man and a woman are joined together in marriage, the two become one. This unity, this oneness, is expressed in many different ways between a husband and his wife. One area in which any marriage can grow in expressing that unity is prayer. Strengthen the prayer lives of husbands and wives, not just individually, but together as well. When husbands and wives pray together, and their prayers are directed by your Word, they are brought closer to each other and to you. When they share the concerns that weigh on them and reveal requests from their hearts, they open a window into each other that fosters intimacy and connection. Draw spouses together frequently in prayer, hear their prayers, and enrich their marriages as you bless their prayers with your loving responses.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Restore Struggling Marriages

Lord of Love,
You established marriage as a foundation for the family. Through it, you intend to draw husband and wife closer to each other and to you, you provide the ideal setting for raising children, and you build strong communities. May we always have a high view of the blessed institution of marriage!

Yet, just as it has with everything else, sin wreaks havoc on marriages, too. I pray for all those whose marriages are troubled. Intervene in every possible way to not only deter divorce, but to strengthen struggling marriages. When the marriage wounds are self-inflicted by either spouse, grant repentance, confession, and forgiveness, so that reconciliation and healing can take place. When the damage is caused by external circumstances or other matters beyond their control, replace any division with determination, so that husband and wife grow through the shared experience of persevering together. When they aren’t even sure what the root cause(s) of their problems are, provide them with transparency and clarity, and grant them a special measure of patience and grace with each other. Recommit all husbands and wives to each other, to their marriage, and to you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
