DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Draw Us Into Your Word

Word Made Flesh,
Your Word is life. There is no other way about it – faith does not exist and cannot survive apart from your Word. Nevertheless, in a culture constantly craving shortcuts, hacks, and pro tips, even as believers, we search for one workaround after another that can give us the benefit of the Word without actually being in the Word. Spare us this foolishness and turn our hearts and desires toward time in your Word. Not only does your Word supply your grace and forgiveness, which we need to feed and fortify our faith; it also provides healing when we’re hurting, strength for our struggles, and answers to all that we ask. Draw us into the Bible. Lead us to love and treasure it. Help us fiercely guard our time in it. Through it, enrich and bless us in ways we could not imagine, and pull us always closer to you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Prioritize Growing in My Faith

Holy Spirit,
Prompt me to prioritize my spiritual growth. As with any growth or learning, spiritual growth doesn’t happen accidentally or unintentionally. If I don’t plan for time to read, study, and apply your Word, it’s rather foolish of me to assume I will grow in my faith. Guide me in sorting out my schedule so that I eliminate distractions and hindrances, including anything that may be harmless but not productive. Help me set up boundaries to protect my intentions to deepen my faith. Fill me with the necessary self-discipline to move forward in setting up and establishing these paths for pursuing your righteousness.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Enrich My Time in the Word

Spirit of Enlightenment,
I treasure my time in the Word. Nevertheless, I still fall into the trap of thinking there are so many other things that need my attention first, which leads me to put off your Word until “later.” When this happens, the result is often that “later” never comes, or when it does, I have so much on my mind that my time in the Word is unfocused or distracted by other concerns. Guard me from the lie of “later.”

Let me approach my daily time in Scripture like first fruit giving, so that it gets the first and the best of my time. When I am reading it and reflecting on it, enlighten and enrich me, uncovering for me precious promises and truths to feed and refresh my soul. Keep me from treating time in your Word like another “to-do” item on my list. Instead, use that time to deepen the roots of my faith and strengthen my spirit, building me up and maturing me to live for you to produce the abundant harvest of good works which you prepared in advance for me to do.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
