DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For New Parents

Perfect Father,
The privilege of being a parent is a special blessing. When parenting for the first time, there are many questions and fears that new parents face. Address their fears with the assurance that they aren’t alone in raising their child(ren), and that you are not only the giver of the gift of children, but that you also provide the best guidance and direction in raising little ones. Shape their skills with your Word and empower them to carry out their responsibility with dedication and faithfulness. Through your Spirit, ensure that the Savior is central to their parenting, both for their own needs and the needs of their children.

Be with new fathers, especially those who are overwhelmed and feel at a loss when it comes to figuring out their role. Let them know how important it is for them to support and hold up their wives in this early season of parenting. Help them to take note of the ways they can step up and contribute around the household, so that new moms aren’t burdened by those responsibilities in addition to nurturing and caring for a newborn. Use this time for fathers to reflect on how they will take the lead in overseeing the spiritual care of their family. Raise up spiritually strong and confident fathers who are then equipped to raise spiritually strong sons and daughters.

For Daughters

Loving Father,
Thank you for the gift of daughters. All children are a blessing from your hand, but sons and daughters are each unique in their own ways. Daughters often display natural relational abilities and an empathy for others that you develop into a blessing to serve both families and society in general. They can exhibit both determination and a genuine sweetness in their demeanor that provides unique perspectives and approaches to responsibilities and tasks. 

I pray that you provide daughters with strong fathers who love and protect them, and who welcome their hugs and affection so they know how to express their feelings and emotions appropriately. Lead fathers to raise them to be prudent and careful, and to be able to know how to defend themselves. Use fathers to model what a godly man looks like, so they have high standards and expectations in their relationships. 

Bless daughters with mothers who foster a strong mother/daughter bond, establishing a beautiful relationship that will bring joy to the lives of both. Let mothers show them what godly confidence and drive look like. Use mothers to help their daughters discern healthy avenues along which to direct their determination. Teach them also what a blessing meekness and a submissive spirit can be through mothers who model it.

Through both parents, ensure that above all else, Christ is central in the home and in life, so that daughters may learn to know what unconditional love is, and love Christ and others deeply in return because of it.

For the Blessing of Parents

Lord God,
I thank you for the blessing of parents. Through mothers and fathers, you intend to provide a safe and stable environment in the home to raise up families. Parents who are present and attentive to the needs of their children are a gift. Through parents, continue to provide direction and discipline to children as they navigate the increasingly challenging demands of growing up in a wayward society. 

Above all, use parents to nurture the faith of children. Let fathers own up to the important role of being spiritual leaders. Through mothers, display Jesus-like love and compassion. Create healthy habits in the home that feed faith and support sanctified living. Make weekly worship a non-negotiable priority, that children may build healthy connections and relationships with their church family. Use those relationships to ultimately strengthen their relationship with you as well. Thank you for parents. Richly bless all that they do for families.
