For Those Who Protect and Serve

Strong Father,
Watch over all those whose work includes putting themselves in harm’s way to protect and serve others. Whether at the local or national level, at home or abroad, guard and keep them as they dutifully fulfill their responsibilities. See that they are well-trained and that adequate oversight ensures that their training is carried out properly, both for their own good and for the safety of those entrusted to their protection. Keep them humble and obedient to those over them, so they would not give in to any temptation to consider themselves above the very law they are charged with enforcing. Prevent all efforts to undermine or interfere with their work, which might cause injury or harm to them or to others. May they feel supported in their line of work, be blessed to see the positive impact it has, and be encouraged by the difference it makes in the lives of those they serve.

For Our Veterans

Mighty God,
On this Veteran’s Day, thank you for all of the men and women throughout our nation’s history who have served in our military. Our brave veterans are the reason that our country has been able to secure and sustain the widespread freedoms we enjoy on a daily basis. They have made tremendous personal sacrifices not just to be able to serve, but also while serving. Regardless of personal opinions over past, present, or future wars, may we always be grateful for those who are willing to carry out their duty and put their lives on the line for this nation. May our veterans always feel appreciated and be well taken care of. Give strength and perseverance to our veterans’ families as well, and provide for their physical and emotional needs when their veterans are away being schooled, stationed, or deployed. Just as you provide veterans with the determination to serve, make us also determined to express our thanks to them for their service.

For Those Who Protect Us

Dear Lord,
Thank you for those who put their lives on the line to defend our country and to protect and serve our communities. We take for granted the protections they provide us with as citizens and overlook the sacrifices so many make in our place. Allow your guardian angels to watch over those in harm’s way and limit the dangers they face. Minimize any injuries they may sustain while serving and grant them quick healing and recovery when they do. Keep them strong in mind and body so they are alert and ready at all times. Free their families and loved ones from worry and anxiety while they serve and fill them with peace. We are grateful for all they do on our behalf. May we express that gratitude and thanks to them often.
