DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For Christian Schools

Lord God,
Thank you for the blessing of Christian schools, where students receive so much more than just an exceptional education; they flourish in faith. Through their Christian education, they learn and discover through the lens of faith, seeing the abundance of your goodness all around them. In addition to being prepared to thrive in the workplace and be solid citizens in their community, students grow emotionally and spiritually, finding their identity and purpose in you and your Word. They don’t simply learn lists of how to be better people, but are actually changed by the good news of you being the best for them, and sacrificially giving yourself in death so that they might live – here and eternally.

With that security and faith-fueled confidence, they are well-prepared to navigate the uncertainty of life, bear up under suffering, and find genuine joy in loving you by serving their neighbor. Thank you for those who teach selflessly in Christian schools, for those who support them financially and prayerfully, and for all who entrust their children to Christian schools as partners in providing the best possible education anyone can receive: one rooted in you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Appreciate Those Who Teach

Dear Lord,
While teachers are certainly worthy of recognition for much longer than just one week of the year, we thank you for the opportunity this week to show our love and support to educators. While the role they play is one of the most essential, it is also one of the most under-appreciated. We have all had memorable teachers over the years who have been instrumental not only in equipping us for life, but also in guiding and directing us along the paths we’ve traveled in life. Bless their labor with patience and a gentle spirit, especially as they instruct students coming from broken homes and dealing with challenging family lives. On top of that, rather than serving as supportive partners, overbearing parents can often make an already draining job even more difficult for teachers. Therefore, Lord, generously provide the resources teachers need to carry out their work well, encourage them daily, surround them with plenty of colleagues and coworkers to cheer them on, and let them feel loved and appreciated for all that they do, not just this week, but always.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For the Blessings of Books and Reading

Good Lord,
Thank you for the blessings of books, literature, and technology that makes the written word accessible in so many ways and forms. As our society becomes more and more visual and video-based, the benefits of reading are being lost. Too many are illiterate or struggle to read. Provide teachers, tutors, and technology to help all who are in need learn to read.

It has also been said that leaders are readers. Move men everywhere to trade in their gaming consoles and screens for books more frequently. Edify and equip them through the words and wisdom of others, and direct them to put their knowledge into practice. Bless others through their learning and application. Foster in them a love for reading that naturally flows into time in your Word, where you provide the richest blessings of all.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For Christian Schools

Lord God,
Thank you for schools that provide a Christian Education. When congregations are able to offer elementary schools as a part of their ministry, both the congregation and the community are richly blessed. The standards are high and the flexibility of curriculum choices allows them to avoid certain controversial content. However, there is no greater benefit than Jesus that Christian schools are able to offer. To nurture and equip not just the mind, but also hearts of faith provides an eternal reward to students. For high schools and colleges that allow students to continue on this path of spiritual instruction, thank you.

Through these schools, your impact often goes beyond the student into the home, so I pray that your Spirit stretches his reach into the hearts of not just students in school, but their families as well. And, because teaching young minds is no small task, I also ask that you equip teachers and professors in these schools with patience, wisdom, and compassion for their students. Let your light shine brightly in them, so that they put the love of Jesus on display for their students and other faculty members to see. Continue to use Christian schools to build up your church and equip believers for this life and the next.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Keep on Learning

God of all Wisdom,
Give me the humility to keep on learning. When I feel overconfident in my own knowledge and am arrogant regarding my intellect, humble me. Show me how little I truly know and how much I have to learn.

In our world today, we are surrounded by unlimited information, virtually all of which is accessible in one way or another via the technology we carry around in our pockets. Give me discernment about what to learn, for there is no shortage of useless information, and not all learning edifies and builds up.

Fill me with childlike wonder over the pursuit of knowledge. And, as I learn, let there be for me no greater joy in the pursuit of knowledge than that which is truly the beginning of wisdom: the fear of the Lord.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Love Learning

Omniscient God,
You know all things and are filled with knowledge that far surpasses even the brightest and most brilliant minds of human beings. But even though we will never attain your level of knowledge, you have created us with minds that are able to learn and discover so much. Work in us the desire to be life-long learners. You have provided us with more ways than ever to pursue greater knowledge and understanding. May we take advantage of books, documentaries, websites, podcasts, and so many other sources of knowledge available to us. Increase our knowledge through these resources. Lead us to a greater love of learning, so that our knowledge might serve others, while also honoring you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
