To Faithfully Use Our Gifts

Gracious Lord,
We don’t all share the same gifts, and we acknowledge that some are more gifted in certain areas than others. Regardless of the type or quality of our gifts, though, each of us can commit to using them faithfully. Since you can use every single gift in unique ways to build up the body of Christ, every gift we have is valuable. It also means your church and the ministry are not functioning optimally when gifts go unused. Let us encourage confidence in each other and spur one another on to maximize the gifts you’ve given us. Give us the courage to call out apathy and indifference when necessary, and to restore to one another the joy of salvation, that we might be eager and use our gifts for your kingdom purposes.

For Believers to Live in the Joy of Salvation

Spirit of Joy,
You alone know the complete number of Christians in the world at any given moment, for you alone know the heart and whether or not saving faith in the Son is present. Regardless of that number, though, we know from personal experience that the joy of our salvation can so easily become buried by burdens or overshadowed by strife. We must also confess that we even allow salvation’s song to be muted by the mundane routines and responsibilities of daily living. Cleanse and renew us from all indifference to the gift of your saving work on our behalf, and make our hearts glad with the certainty of our salvation. Regardless of our day-to-day circumstances or happenings, let our delight be evident to all, so that others may be drawn to your salvation because of our elation.
