For Those Who Help Us Bear Our Burdens

Compassionate Savior,
It is an unavoidable reality that this side of heaven, we will all have burdens to bear. But, you also give us an unshakeable promise that we will never bear any burden alone. You will not abandon us. You will not forsake us. You will not leave us on our own for even a second. While that would be enough, your care and compassion go even further, for you place others in our lives to bear our burdens along side us. It may be another set of ears to listen while we unpack our struggles. It may be eyes to help us see the next step. It might be solutions to enable us to lighten the load. It might be prayers, words of encouragement, or simply being present when we’re weighed down the most. Thank you, Lord, for providing these fellow burden bearers in my life. Make me willing to be the same for others when they need it.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

For Those Facing Heavy Decisions

Spirit of Comfort,
Be present for those who find themselves in situations where they need to make hard, heavy decisions. When choices will significantly impact families, finances, and futures, do not let those decisions be rash or hasty. When circumstances require a decision to be made urgently or in a very short timeframe, grant those decision-makers an extra measure of your Spirit, and surround them with wisdom and counsel. When gut-wrenching end-of-life decisions need to be made, let the confidence of the Resurrection and eternal life wash over and calm troubled, anxious hearts. Move believers in the body of Christ to offer the comfort of their presence for those facing emotionally draining decisions, so that they don’t have to make those decisions alone.

To Help Others Bear Their Burdens

Strong Savior,
Make me more aware today of the burdens others are bearing. Then, rather than dismissing their hardships in light of my own problems, keep my attention on them and prompt me to consider and pray about how I might address their difficulties, or at least help bear them. While we aren’t always able to fix people’s problems, sometimes just acknowledging them and helping carry them goes a long way. It is a blessing for others simply not to have to struggle alone. Though their burdens may be heavy, use my willingness to share the yoke as a reminder that you are the perfect burden bearer, who assures us that we never endure hardships alone.
