DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For Growth Through Hardship

Loving Father,
When adversity and strife show up, you promise to work good in my life through them. Help me to believe this, especially whenever doubts creep in and I begin to question it. Sometimes you use these challenges to draw me into a deeper trust in you, and other times to correct or admonish, but the goal is always to draw me closer to you. I am grateful that you can turn these seasons of hardship into growth opportunities. Strengthen me to embrace them as such, and provide me with the endurance necessary to ride them out. Though I may not always be able to welcome such strife with the joyful outlook you call me to have when in the thick of it, change my perspective by letting my eyes of faith consider the good on the other side of it that you could be working through it.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Prioritize Growing in My Faith

Holy Spirit,
Prompt me to prioritize my spiritual growth. As with any growth or learning, spiritual growth doesn’t happen accidentally or unintentionally. If I don’t plan for time to read, study, and apply your Word, it’s rather foolish of me to assume I will grow in my faith. Guide me in sorting out my schedule so that I eliminate distractions and hindrances, including anything that may be harmless but not productive. Help me set up boundaries to protect my intentions to deepen my faith. Fill me with the necessary self-discipline to move forward in setting up and establishing these paths for pursuing your righteousness.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For the Blessings Received by Faith

Spirit of Life,
Thank you for the gift of faith, by which we have the sure confidence of our salvation, completed in full for us by Jesus. Faith that is healthy and growing is faith that is blessed. When we listen to your Word and put it into practice, we see and experience the blessings you promise. While this should not surprise us, we often react as if these blessings came out of nowhere and could never have been anticipated – even though you so plainly promise them! How much room our faith still has to grow! Increase our faith so that we boldly expect you to deliver on your promises when we listen and act accordingly. And, fill us with humble gratitude for how richly you still bless us even when we don’t.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For a Faith That Acts

Spirit of Life,
Thank you for the gift of faith, by which we have the sure confidence of our salvation, completed in full for us by Jesus. Faith that is healthy and growing is faith that acts. When faith listens, its natural response is to act. However, since the Old Adam in me is bent on self-service, it opposes any activity of faith that is directed toward others. Therefore, take me back to my baptism, where that part of me needs to be drowned again and again, and raise me up in newness of life, eager to put my faith into practice. Whenever I hear your Word, allow my heart and mind to collaborate with my ears so that I am contemplating how I might put your Word into practice. Compel me to be not just a hearer of your Word, but also a doer of it. Moved by the power of your grace and grounded in the certainty of your gift of eternal life, grant me a hard-working faith.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For a Faith That Listens

Spirit of Life,
Thank you for the gift of faith, by which we have the sure confidence of our salvation, completed in full for us by Jesus. Faith that is healthy and growing is faith that listens to you. And, since you speak to us through your Word, drive us to it daily. Protect our ears and our hearts from any voices that aren’t yours, since rather than strengthening our faith, they only starve it. Help us become better at recognizing false teachers by growing more familiar with your true and trustworthy teaching. Shut out all the endless noise in our lives so that we can hear your voice clearly and feed our faith.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Bless Married Men

Lord of Love,
Married men face unique challenges. In marriage, they have committed to living sacrificially for their wives, multiplying their obligations. Marriage also means setting aside or compromising many of their own personal preferences and interests. When you bless them to be fathers, their responsibilities increase even more. Keep them from becoming overwhelmed in their vocations as husbands and fathers, while also guarding them from securing their identities through these roles. When they envy single men, hold out before them the rich blessings you extend to them through their families. Keep them faithful to their wives and families. Let every husband’s passion and desire be directed to his wife alone, and bless that devotion with sexual satisfaction and fulfillment in her alone. Equip husbands by your Spirit to be the spiritual leaders in their homes. Raise up their wives to fill them with love and support, so that they are able to carry out their God-given roles, bringing glory to you as they serve their families.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Bless Single Men

Lord God,
Single men face unique challenges. When they feel the social pressure to be dating or in pursuit of a girlfriend, relieve that pressure by granting them a spirit of contentment with their current station in life. Assure them that they are not somehow incomplete or inferior in comparison to others who are married or dating. If they struggle with insecurities, direct their attention away from themselves to you, where they truly find all that they need. Diminish the urges of temptation in their lives by creating in them the godly desire to pursue your righteousness and deepen their faith. Fulfill them in their vocations and satisfy them with work faithfully and well done. Let them know their contributions at work, in your church, and in their communities are appreciated. Bless them with hobbies and interests that provide rejuvenation and relaxation. Remind them that because of Christ, their lives have meaning and that they matter greatly to you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Lead Others Spiritually

Faithful Father,
You have made us your disciples by your grace, through your Word. Discipleship includes continuing to personally grow in that grace through your Word. And, as men, our discipleship also includes leading our wives and families in their growth, too. I have so much room to grow! Guide and direct me first and foremost to grow in my own personal faith, so that as I do, I am better equipped to lead others. Since discipling includes discipline, grant me the motivation and discipline to prioritize my spiritual leadership. Dispel my fears with faith, and fill me with the Spirit’s zeal and confidence to embrace my call to lead. Where I see my own shortcomings, help me see your strength. Where I see my inadequacy, help me see your infallibility. Build others up through me so that we all may boast more in you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For Your Grace and Guidance in this New Year

God of Grace,
On this first day of a new year, as I look ahead, I see so many unknowns. There are plans in place and events scheduled that excite and energize me when I consider them. But there will also be transitions and changes that leave me uncertain and uneasy. Remind me that you already know their outcome, and that you attach to them your promise to bring good out of everything for my benefit and blessing. Therefore, let my goals and plans for the year ahead be less about my desire to be in control and on top of everything, and more about developing my relationship with you and solidifying my trust in you. Take my faith to new heights this year, and use every part of me to honor you and build up your kingdom through my service to others. Pour into me so that I am overflowing and able to pour into others as I strive to carry out your calling for me to make disciples.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For the Ongoing Pursuit of Growth

Loving Lord,
When you called me to faith, you called me to a life of growth. While our physical bodies are limited by how much they can grow before they start to decline, our faith can always grow, no matter our age or circumstances. However, this kind of spiritual growth doesn’t happen accidentally, but intentionally. It happens when we are deliberate about prioritizing your Word in our lives. And, while we may tend to think of growth happening in ideal settings and surroundings, it often happens in scenarios that are anything but. Adversity and affliction can be accelerators of growth if we let them, as those are the experiences which easily strip us of self-reliance and steer us toward our Savior. No matter what season of life we’re in, give us faith eyes that see favorable opportunities to grow closer to you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
