DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

For Your Strength to Sustain Me

Almighty God,
I am not interested in pretending that my own strength is sufficient to sustain me in any way. So I ask you to strengthen me with your power, according to your might. Only then will I have the ability to patiently endure. Only then will I have any hope or chance of withstanding Satan’s attacks and defending against him in spiritual warfare.

Strengthen me with your sacraments. Help me to embrace my Spirit-filled identity as victor, which you anointed me with through my baptism. Reinvigorate me through the Supper when my soul is weary and worn, and rejuvenate me through your body and blood to rejoin the spiritual battle with fresh vigor. Equip me with the weapon of your Word to fight valiantly, to persevere, and to confidently expect the victory you have already promised and won. When you alone are the only source of my strength, I know I will never fail.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Be Approachable

Precious Savior,
Grant me a gentle spirit. Help me to realize that it isn’t just my words, but my body language and actions as well that contribute to how I come across to others. Do not allow me to get drawn into confrontations just for the sake of arguing. Free me from the need to always be right and help me to see the value in appreciating and respecting other people’s views and opinions. Lead me to measure my words and speak to others with patient kindness. Through all of these efforts, I pray that others may see me as approachable, caring, and always willing to listen.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

DAILY PRAYERS FOR GUYS

To Overcome My Impatience

Patient Lord,
I ask you to forgive my impatience, which often translates into rash responses. Moreover, it reveals a double standard on my part, as I appreciate and even expect your patience with me, yet fail to demonstrate that same patience with others.

Remind me that I am not the one in control. I do not govern time or dictate how others perceive or manage it either. Instead, give me the grace to wait patiently. Open my eyes to see when it is my own lack of planning or preparation that is part of the problem, and help me to give more attention to such details initially so that they don’t pave the way for my impatience later on. As I wait on progress or growth from others, and I don’t perceive it to be happening as quickly as I would like, help me instead to appreciate the variety and uniqueness with which you have created every human being.

When I feel my impatience growing, slow my speedy expectations and replace them with the joyful appreciation of time to wait, reflect, and simply enjoy the blessings of being present in those moments. Thank you, Lord, for your patience with me.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
