For Those Battling Hidden Struggles

Compassionate Christ,
Today I pray for those who are suffering silently. On the outside, it may appear as if all is well and life is good. But inside, unbeknownst to others, they are suffering and struggling mightily, possibly even contemplating suicide. I plead for you to intervene in any way necessary to guard and protect them from any immediate threat of harm. Prompt them to pause, reflect, and discover solutions that offer hope. Or, open a window that allows another individual to truly see them, pick up on their hurt, and engage with them in meaningful conversation. Let that dialogue reveal a promising path forward. Be present with them in their isolation and loneliness, and roll back the darkness to reveal your wonderful life-giving light. 

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

To Appreciate That God Answers Prayer

Dedicated Father,
You always hear the prayers of your people. You are never too busy, too preoccupied, or too unconcerned to bend your ear to our requests. But you do more than just listen; you answer our prayers, and you do so with a response that best meets our needs. How spoiled we are! Yes, even when your final decision appears to be at odds with our desired outcome, we can accept it with the full confidence that your way is always the better way. Thank you for faithfully hearing our prayers and for addressing them perfectly, which is the only way you know how. Widen our eyes of faith to see the full picture when viewing your answers to our prayers, so that we might see how you weave them in to suit the needs of others, serving them in the best way possible. Guard us from selfish tunnel vision, so that we realize how often our own prayers also affect others, and grant us grateful hearts that regularly take advantage of this powerful privilege of prayer.
